How CorksCritterCare collects, uses, protects, and respects the personal information you share with us — both as a client and as a visitor to this website.
Last updated: September 29, 2026
Corks Critter Care (CCC) respects the privacy of clients and website visitors. This policy explains what personal information CCC collects, why it is collected, how it is used and protected, when it may be shared with service providers, how long it is retained, and the choices available to individuals. CCC is based in Calgary, Alberta and handles personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and other applicable Canadian privacy requirements.
CCC may collect information reasonably required to provide pet-care, home-care and related services, including name, address, telephone number, email address, emergency contacts, booking and scheduling information, home-access instructions, key/lockbox/alarm details, pet information, veterinary contacts, medication and care instructions, photographs, visit reports, billing and transaction records, communication preferences, consent records, and information voluntarily provided through CCC forms, messages or the client portal.
CCC may use personal information to respond to inquiries and quote requests; register and onboard clients; schedule and provide services; safely care for pets and property; communicate about bookings, visits and changes; prepare visit reports; administer authorized pet medications or care instructions; contact veterinarians or emergency contacts where reasonably necessary; prepare contracts, invoices and business records; operate the client portal; maintain security; meet accounting, insurance, tax and legal obligations; and send marketing communications where an appropriate consent basis exists.
Service-related communications may include booking confirmations, appointment information, contracts, invoices, payment notices, visit updates, pet-care reports and other messages reasonably necessary to provide requested services. Newsletters, promotions, offers, coupons and other marketing communications are treated separately and are sent only where CCC has an appropriate consent basis. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent CCC from sending necessary service-related communications.
CCC may use service providers to operate its business, including client-management, scheduling, portal, communications, text-messaging and telephone, website hosting and security, automation, file-storage, analytics, AI-assisted productivity and payment services. CCC does not sell or rent client personal information. Information is shared with service providers only as reasonably necessary for the services they provide to CCC and subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.
CCC uses SuiteDash for client relationship management, the client portal, registration information, forms, contracts, scheduling, invoicing, messaging, files and workflow automation. SuiteDash operates its services from the United States, and its currently listed subprocessors are identified as U.S.-located. Personal information processed through SuiteDash may therefore be transferred to, stored or processed in the United States. The purpose of this processing is to operate CCC's client-management, communication, scheduling, contracting, invoicing and service-delivery systems. CCC rechecks SuiteDash's current provider/subprocessor information when material changes occur.
CCC uses Google services including Google Workspace, Google Drive, Google Photos and Google Analytics for business administration, email, file storage, photographs, analytics and related operational purposes. Google states that it maintains servers around the world and that information may be processed outside the country where the user lives. Google's current Google Workspace subprocessor register identifies processing activities in Canada, the United States and multiple other countries and is updated by Google over time. The purpose of this processing is to provide CCC's email, file-storage, photo, analytics and business-administration services. CCC may direct individuals to Google's current Workspace subprocessor register for the current processing-location list.
CCC's website is currently hosted using Namecheap shared hosting. CCC's documented hosting environment is located in the United States. Website hosting may involve website files, databases, backups and server-access logs. CCC also uses website-security services, including Wordfence/Defiant where active, to help detect and respond to security threats. These providers may process technical or security-related information under their own privacy terms.
CCC accepts payment through Stripe, PayPal and Interac e-Transfer. Stripe states that Canadian personal data may be transferred to data centres in the United States and that some service providers may be outside Canada.
If you choose to pay an invoice by PayPal, you are taken to PayPal's own secure website to complete the payment. PayPal (Canada) Co. handles your payment and account information as a separate organization under its own privacy statement, and PayPal states that it and its service providers may process and store personal information in the United States and other countries. Corks Critter Care does not receive your card or bank details; we receive confirmation of the payment, such as your name, email address, amount paid and transaction reference, so we can match it to your invoice.
If you pay by Interac e-Transfer, the payment is sent from your financial institution to ours through the Interac network, a Canadian payment network. Your bank and Interac handle the transfer under their own privacy policies. Interac states that some information, such as IP addresses, device information and fraud-prevention data, may be handled by service providers outside Canada. Corks Critter Care receives the sender's name, email address or phone number, the amount and any message you include, so we can match the payment to your invoice.
CCC does not intentionally store complete payment-card numbers in its own business systems.
Where CCC uses a service provider outside Canada to collect, use, disclose, store or otherwise process personal information, CCC maintains a written Cross-Border Provider Register identifying the provider, the country or countries known to be involved, the purposes for which the provider is authorized to handle personal information, the source used to verify that information and the date last checked. Individuals may request access to this information, or ask questions about CCC's use of service providers outside Canada, by contacting the CCC Privacy Contact listed in this policy.
CCC may use AI-assisted productivity tools for drafting, summarizing, organizing information, research and administrative support. CCC seeks to minimize the personal information provided to these tools and restricts highly sensitive information such as passwords, authentication secrets and home-access/security codes. Where an AI provider processes personal information on CCC's behalf, CCC treats that provider as a service provider and applies applicable privacy, security and outside-Canada processing controls. CCC reviews the provider/service/account type before approving routine identifiable-client use.
AI providers CCC uses may process information in the United States and other countries, as described in the Service Providers Outside Canada section.
CCC's website may use cookies and similar technologies needed for site operation, preferences, security and analytics. CCC uses Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager to understand website traffic and usage patterns. This may involve technical information such as IP address, device/browser information, pages viewed, referral information and date/time of access. Google handles information it receives through these services under its own privacy terms. Visitors can control or disable cookies through browser settings, although some website functions may be affected.
CCC may disclose personal information to a caregiver or authorized substitute who needs the information to provide a requested service; to a veterinarian, emergency clinic or emergency contact where reasonably necessary for an animal's care; to professional advisers such as accountants, insurers or legal advisers where appropriate; or to government, regulatory, law-enforcement or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
CCC uses reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information it handles. Particular care is required for residential addresses, keys, alarm information, door and lockbox codes, home-access instructions, emergency information and client account records. CCC limits access to people who reasonably require the information to provide services or perform their responsibilities.
CCC retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain the client relationship, satisfy legal, tax, insurance, accounting and recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes or service concerns, and protect legitimate business interests. When information is no longer reasonably required, CCC takes reasonable steps to securely delete, destroy or anonymize it, subject to applicable legal and business recordkeeping requirements.
Subject to applicable law, individuals may ask whether CCC holds personal information about them, request access to personal information under CCC's control, and request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information. CCC may request reasonable information to verify identity before providing access or making a correction.
Where CCC relies on consent, an individual may withdraw that consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may affect CCC's ability to provide a service where the information is necessary to safely or properly provide that service. Marketing consent may be withdrawn without cancelling necessary service communications.
If CCC becomes aware of a loss of, unauthorized access to, or unauthorized disclosure of personal information, CCC will assess the incident, take reasonable steps to contain and address it, and follow applicable notification or reporting requirements.
When CCC collects personal information, CCC will identify the purposes for the collection at or before the time of collection as required by applicable law and will provide a contact who can answer questions about the collection. CCC seeks consent where consent is required and limits collection to information that is reasonably necessary for the identified purposes.
CCC's website, client communications and resources may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. CCC is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites or services. Individuals should review the privacy information provided by those third parties before providing personal information to them.
CCC's website and services are intended for adults who are able to arrange and authorize pet-care or home-care services. CCC does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children for marketing or account-registration purposes. If CCC becomes aware that personal information was collected from a child in circumstances where it should not have been collected, CCC will take reasonable steps to address it.
CCC may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in its services, service providers, technology, legal requirements or privacy practices. CCC updates the effective date whenever it publishes a material change. Where required, CCC will provide additional notice or obtain consent for a new use of personal information.
